Stew Simpson - True Love Is Never Blind
Stew Simpson has been fortunate enough to carve out a varied career in the arts, including Painting, drawing, acting, ilustration, performance art, poetry, presentation and on stage MCing at music festivals. But what Stew is mostly known for is his work as a singer/songwriter both solo and with his band Hadrian's Union.
Green Ribbons - Heathery Hills
Green Ribbons is a project dedicated to the celebration of unaccompanied song. The current line-up features Debbie Armour(Burd Ellen), Frankie Armstrong, Alasdair Roberts and Benjamin "Jinnwoo" Webb (Jinnwoo, Bird in the Belly). Their debut release is an intimate collection of traditional and newly composed songs. Recorded live at Studio 95 in Brighton by engineer Tom Pryor, GREEN RIBBONS sees each artist featured solo, in duet and in full ensemble.
Forty Elephant Gang - Young Mans Game
A rousing and innovative acoustic three piece. Their songs relay tales of heartbreak, misdeeds and revelry, presented with elements of Blues and Americana but with a classic British feel. A bit like Crosby, Stills & Nash but with Ray Davies and along for the ride!
Daisy Chute - London's On Fire
Edinburgh-born, half-American, hyphen-loving Daisy Chute is a folk songstress and multi-instrumentalist with a particular penchant for the banjo. Formerly of Decca's platinum-selling classical group All Angels, she is excited to be working on her début album of original songs with producer and songwriter Tim Baxter (Andy Burrows, Editors, Nick Mulvey, Jasmine Thompson).
Ariana Brophy - A Bit Of Fresh Air
Ariana Brophy is the songwriting equivalent of mulled wine; sweet, nostalgic, perfectly paired with a rainy evening and a fireplace. With vocal clarity that would suggest she has been singing a lifetime, Ariana's listeners are invited to observe an unreserved and vulnerable portrait of the soul behind her lyrics.
Honey And The Bear - Dark Heart
Honey & the Bear combine interweaving vocal harmonies with a diverse range of sounds and textures. Conjuring stories in song, they tell tales of Suffolk folklore, courage, passion and heartbreak with rhythms that flow from the fast and furious to gentle ballads.
The Countrymen - The Trees On The Hill
Six middle-aged musicians with tight four-part harmony vocals and a token Cornishman. With a relaxed and light-hearted presentation style they take the audience on a journey through the history and culture of Cornwall, featuring their own arrangements of traditional and contemporary songs, as well as some original material.
Sadie Horler - Washed Up Mermaid
Sadie Horler's heartfelt lyrics are inspired by events and people around her with every song telling a compelling story you do not want to miss.Sadie's most recent release 'Washed Up Mermaid' has had recognition from the likes of BBC 6 Music, Fresh on the Net and BBC Introducing.
Neal Hoffmann - Instinct And Feel
In lots of ways I think of myself as someone who follows his head and has a very rational side. But I also follow my instincts a lot and have learned to trust that side of my personality. The song explores this and looks at the impact the approach has on a relationship.
Steamtown - The Kids
Steamtown are a duo from Knaresborough with a guitar, a Banjo and a suitcase singing about love, politics, hard drinking and trains. This is Yorkshire Americana delivered with a smile and acoustic music to make you tap your feet.
Henry Parker - Silent Spring
Having supported the likes of Michael Chapman, Lau and Soft Machine, Henry Parker toes the line between folk music and progressive rock. His finger-picked guitar style owes much to the 60's/ 70's style of Jansch, Renbourn and Nick Drake.
Nic Norton & The County Band - Matthew I Never Knew
Nic Norrton & The County Band are made up of wonderful singer Alice Mills with the colourful and often dark songwriting from Nic Norton and the inspired fiddler Mollie Narayn-Barrow. Independent music at it's very best, said one review
Amy Hopwood - The Call Of The Wind Witch
The song was inspired by the old harbourside tradition of selling knotted ropes to sailors to help them control the wind at sea. What could possibly go wrong with that? It's taken from Amy Hopwood's second album, "All At Sea".
Karen Marshalsay - The Road To Kennacraig
Playing all three Scottish harps -gut & wire-strung, and the sitar-like Baroque bray harp, and deeply influenced by pipe music, Karen is a highly accomplished player of traditional music and a fine composer of tunes in a living tradition.
The Meadows Band - Lowlands Away
The Meadows are a Wales based multi-instrumentalist folk band. In 'Force of the Tide' the siblings weave between lively reels and rich vocal harmonies, taking their listeners on a journey of traditional music from around the UK and Ireland.
